There is a difference also in the number of pratyāhāra-sūtras in the two editions. The Madras edition had 14, i. e. same as in the Astādhyāyī. But the Trivandrum edition has only 13, as in Candra-vyākaraṇa. The two sutras 'ha ya va rat/lan/' are combined into one as 'ha ya va ra lan / With ṭakara only one pratyāhāra viz. at is used in grammar. The at pratyāhāra does not occur in any Bhoja-sutras. Therefore, the reading without the ṭakāra viz. ‘ha ya va ra lan/ appears to be the correct one. The at occurs in four Panini sūtras: āto 'ti nityam (8.3.3), dirghād-ați samana-pāde (8.3.9), at-kupvan-num-vyavāye'pi (8.4.2) and śaścho'ti (8.4.63). The Bhoja-sutras corresponding to P. 8.4.2, and 8.4.63 are : dirghadaṇi samāna-pāde (8.2.128), cu-tu-tu-la-sar-vyavaye (7.4.145) mentioning the letters the intervention of which prevents ṇatva and cayaśśaścho'mi (7.4.176), which is based on the Katyāyana's vārttika chatvam-ami tacchmaśruṇā tacchlokeneti prayojanam. Bhoja has rejected the Panini sūtra ato'ți nityam, following the statement found in the Käsikävṛtti: kecidanusvāramadhiyate, which indicates that the anunāsikatva is not nitya.
