प्रस्तावना
तक व्यक्ति अपनी आत्मिक स्वतंत्रता को उपलब्ध नहीं हो सकता. उस आसक्ति से आत्मा को छुड़ाने वाली क्रिया है प्रत्याख्यान प्रत्याख्यान की पावन क्रिया उस औषध का काम करती है जो आत्मा के परतंत्रता रूपी रोग को मिटाकर उसकी स्वतंत्रता को उपलब्ध कराता है.

ये छहों आवश्यक जब एकत्रित होते हैं तभी व्यक्ति पूर्ण आत्मदशा को शीघ्रता से उपलब्ध होता है. अतीत में व्यक्ति के लिए प्रतिक्रमण जितना जरूरी था उससे कहीं ज्यादा जरूरी आज बन गया है क्यों कि आज व्यक्ति की आध्यात्मिक चेतना बाहरी आक्रमणों के कारण मूर्छित हो चली है. बाहरी कल्पनाओं में भटकी हुई चेतना को आत्मा पुनः स्थापित करना जरूरी हो गया है. चेतना के इस पुनः स्थापन और पुनर्जागरण के लिए प्रतिक्रमण एक सक्षम माध्यम है. प्रतिक्रमण की क्रिया यह अमृत है जो आत्मा को अजरत्व और अमरत्व प्रदान करने का दायित्व निभाती है. यह क्रिया व्यक्ति को अपूर्णता में से पूर्णता की ओर आगे बढ़ने का संदेश देती है. इतना ही नहीं, इस पावन क्रिया के माध्यम से व्यक्ति पर दर्शन से दूर हटकर स्व-दर्शन को उपलब्ध | होकर क्रमशः आत्म विकास में तेज गति से सफलता प्राप्त करता है. यह पावन क्रिया अगर ठीक से की जाती है तो आत्मा अपने शाश्वत सुख को कुछ समय में ही उपार्जन कर लेती है.
पूर्वाचार्यों ने इस पावन क्रिया को सूत्रबद्ध किया है. अतः इसका

Preface
pratyākhyāna. The sacred rite of pratyākhyāna does the work of that medicine which causes the soul to achieve its freedom erasing from the disease present in form of slavery.
A man can achieve complete self-elevation only then when all these six āvaśyakas gather together. As much as pratikramana was necessary to the man in past, more than that it is necessary today because spiritual awareness of man has gone out of consciousness due to external attacks. It is necessary tore establish the conscious wandering in outer imaginations back into the soul. pratikramana is a capable medium for re-establishment and realertness of conscious. The rite of pratikramana is that nectar which performs responsibility of donating ever non old age [youngness] and immortality to the soul. This rite gives message to the man for moving forward to completeness from incompleteness and the man attains prompt success in self-uplift by moving away from viewing towards others and attains self viewing by means of this sacred rite. If this sacred rite is performed properly then the soul would acquire eternal happiness in short period.
