CHICT-HTHTHT :: 471
The four4th Canto starts with a dialogue between the earthern-pot kumbha with fuel sticks in the oven. The Kumbha observes "In Ganatantra democracy, stick is often used for punishing the innocent while the culprits go scot free". The faltering stick says:
Not by oppressing the weak, But in protecting them by giving support, The strength of the strong becomes worth-while. “निर्बल-जनों को सताने से नहीं,/बल-संबल दे बचाने से ही acarita at Hrefas Eat I" (9.240p)
Later the artist 'kumbhakar' potter kindles the oven by repeating the Navkar Mantra - sacred Mantra, in nine times for sanctifying the whole process of pot making. The blazing fire gives its sermon by saying:
I firmly believe/No one has obtained liberation, Without giving the crucial fire-test so far, Nor will it be had in future either.
"मैं इस बात को मानती हैं कि/अग्नि-परीक्षा के बिना आज तक
faneitat fan fict 767,/a afy i forcoll I” (q.p64) The Acharya then alludes to the real and relentless test of life, on the touch-stone Kasauti of noble character. He also refers to dharma and adharma, to virtues and vices, meditation and pranayam, that is breath control or yoga, equipoise, soft or hard, philosophy and spiritual life, cause and effect, rhythm or tal in music and so on, and concludes by saying:
Behold, but without touch, Touch, but without elation Then emotions will remain hungry... "Estar I, a Pisa TET,/29817 EIREFA TET, Hrah pet ut!” (9.18C)
Once the life receives glowing touch from guru it beams on the countenance of the aspirant, thereafter the whole process – the swastik, saffron, sriphal (coconut), the suppliant devotee at the feet of guru - is narrated :
Oh, Compassionate guru,/I take refuge at thy feet, Ferry me across in thy boat/To the shore of the ocean of world. " UT, RUS 3/1944,/art-UTETT, wa-afe aetas a/26174 yer!" (9.774)
