VII : Hemachandra (H.) in the Kāvānuśāsana (=Kā.Śā.) refers to this work at 43 times, taking into consideration all the occurrances including those in his viveka also. sometimes one and the same verse is quoted more than once at different places to explain different situation of criticism. For the sake of convenience, we will refer to these verses in their alphabatical order as below. : (1) 37 2 f1a. (Ku. Sam.1/4). Kā.Śā. 3782|ry 5 / E 116 :H. illustrates 382 figure here. (2) 345cfufa 981. (Ku. Sam. 8/63). Kā.Śā. 2/80 :H. holds that रसाभास & भावाभास occur when the objects of description are nonsentient objects, animals etc. By 3111 / etc. Fren, 2641 etc. are also covered as in the verse quoted here viz. अङ्गुलीभिरिव.. (3) 3721 Hafta. (Ku. Sam. 2/64). Kā.śā. 8/6 :- fados (=fà) The poet has to adopt a different metre at the end of a sarga in a Mahākāvya. The illustration is अथ स ललित. etc. (4) steargfa. (Ku. Sam. 8/6). Kā.Śā. 1/23 :H. explains yra neaf which operates when the expressed sense of a word is restricted by af etc./ 31fc; and the other suggested sense is conveyed. To illustrate nifa', H. here cites this verse, where 'Higit is the factor which restricts the expressed sense. (5) 3 514: (Ku. Saṁ. 5/40). Kā.Šā. (fa). 3/5 :H. discusses प्रक्रमभेद in the विवेक. In this verse the poet has 'अयं जनः' for 'अहम्' This expression is more beautiful. H. seems to follow the lead of Mammata here and at a number of places elsewhere also. (6) safu ifadatel. (Ku. Sam. 4/3). Kā.śā. 2/12 :This verse illustrates karuņa rasa, according to H. (7) 34yfrei. (Ku. Sam. 1/1). Kā.Śā. 3/3. (fa) & 4/1 (fa). This verse is quoted twice in the विवेक as above, while discussing देश-काल-विभाग, following Rājasekhara, this verse is cited to illustrate the northern direction. Again it is quoted to discuss the ra/ smoothness in expression - quality
