________________ Vol. XIX, 1994-1995 MANAGEMENT OF TEMPLES... 81 (i) Mahārāni Chandatā devī, the queen of Mahārājā Aśvadeva or Āsarāja built a Cāndaleśvara temple in the area of Tripurusadeva. The Mahārājā granted a village Picchāvālī for its maintenance. This village was later transferred to Mehari Sobhikā a dancing girl and therefore another village Sālayi was alloted. (ii) Mahārāni Sankārādevī, the queen of Mahārājā Ālhan built a small shrine of Gaurī in the Chandaleshvar temple. It seems that she built this temple when Alhana was Mahārājā Kumāra.? (iii) Chauliān Kuntapal's daughter Laxmanādevi built a temple of Lakhanesvara, which was situated inside the Tripurushdeva temple. (iv) Chauhān Rāipal's queen Padmatādevi and lier two sons Sahanpāla and Sahajpāla built three temples nained Padmaleśvara, Sahanpāleśvara and Sahajapāleśvara. (v) Chauhan Sahanpäl made some donations to the Tripurusa deva temple in VE 1192 and desired to continue the Rath-yātrā celebrations of the temples Padmaleśvara, Sahajpāleśvara and Sahanpaleśvara. It seems that Rath-yātrā festival was regarded an important celebrations, which was to be performed with great pomp and slow.! (vi) Chauhān Alhan confirmed the charities made to the temple of Tripurusa deva by certain residents named Kātū kīkā, Madanpāl and Mohan sinha of village Nānana." (vii) Chauhān Allian granted a village Nānaņa to the Tripuruşa deva teinple in VE 1219. It seems that during the course of the reign of some other rulers from VE 1206 to 1218 over Nãdol this village was confiscated. It was, therefore, restored back to the temple.1? (viii) He also granted three Halas measure of land situated in village Sewādi to God Tripurusadeva temple. In a further grant he also donated a village Chāmodī to the Tripurushdeva village Bhitalavādā to Candaleśvara and four Drammās per month to the Gauri temple. 12Page Navigation
