________________ ( 35 ) substituted for its ri, as माइहरं, माउहरं (मालगृह) ; क्वचिदगौणस्यापि sometimes this rule is applied to it even when it stands single, as माइणो (मातुः ) ; ।। रिः केवलस्य ॥ ७० ॥ १ केवलस्य व्यञ्जनेनासंपृक्तस्य तो रिरादेशो भवति । The initial vowel ri () of a word when not adherent to any letter takes the form of ri (रि) ; as रिद्धी, (श्रृद्धि:) ; श्रृण, श्रृजु, श्रृषभ श्रृतु, ऋषिषु विकल्पेन रिरादेशो भवति । This rule is optionally applied to words rina &c; as fď (qu) ; रिज्जु, उज्जू (श्रृजुः) ; रिषहो, उसहो (ऋषभः) ; रिऊ, उदू (श्रृतु:) ; रिसी, इसी (श्रृषि:) । ॥ दृशः क्विप् टक्सकः ॥ ७१ ॥ क्विप्, टक्, सक्, दूत्यत्तदन्तस्य दृशोधतो तो रिरादेशो भवति । When the root Dris' takes the krit suffixes of kwip tak and sak, the vowel ri adherent to d changes into the form of xŻ (रि) ; as एश्ररिसो, तारियो, सरियो, सरिच्छो, एरिमो, केरिसी, अलारिसो, अम्हारियो, तुम्हारिमो, टक्, सक्, साहचर्य्यात् त्यदाद्यन्यादिसूत्रविहितः विविध गुह्यते । २ As the suffix kwip is mentioned here along with tak and sak, we are to infer that it is in reference to sutra त्यदाद्यन्त्यादि ; in other words the rule applies only more com १ In Prakritaprakasa this sutra appears as "अयुक्तस्य रिः” । The corresponding rule of Prakritaprakasa is prehensive as-The syllable ri is sometimes substituted for an initial xi even when it is not connected with another letter. शौरसेन्यां यादृशादीनां जादिशं इत्यादिरूपं भवति । In the sauras' eni the words यादृश &c. assume the form of जादि &c. ; as जादिशं तादिशं । अपभ्रं शो In the apabhrans'aजशं, तमित्यादि ; पैशाच्यां जातिसं, नातिस मित्यादि ; Aho!
