॥ रो रो वा ॥ ५ । १। द्र-शब्दे रेफस्य लुग्वा भवति ।
In the conjunct dr, the elision of r is optional ; as दोहो (द्रोह) ; रुद्दो (रुद्रः) ; भदं (भद्र) ; समुद्दो (समुद्रः) ;
॥ ज्ञाञः जस्य द्वित्वञ्चानादौ ॥ ६ । २। ज्ञासम्बन्धिना ञस्य लुग्वा भवति । जस्य च द्विवमनादौ ।
In the conjunct jậa p (7) is optionally elided and the remaining j is doubled, provided it does not stand at the beginning of a word ; as सव्वजो, सव्वसू (सर्वज्ञः) ; अप्पनो, अप्पमू (अन्त्पज्ञः); अहिजो, अहिलू (अभिज्ञः); णाणं, जाणं (ज्ञान); संजा, संमा (संज्ञा); अजो, अलो (अज्ञः); कचिनभवति in some instances the elision does not take place ; as विरमाणं ।
॥ अनादावादेशस्य द्विवचनम् ॥ ७। अनादौ वर्तमानस्यादेशस्य दित्व भवति ।
A single consonant which is substituted for a conjunct by rules herein-after stated, is doubled, provided
१ अवन्त्यामपि नियम एष सर्वत्र वर्तते In the abanti this rule is universally applied.
२ शौरसेन्यां ज्ञ स्थाने जो भवति In the sauraseni n is is substituted for jn (ज्ञ); मागध्यां ज्ञस्य ज्ञो भवति in the māgadhi jn (ज्ञ) is replaced by doubled n; पैशाच्यामपि मागधीवत् ज्ञस्य ज्ञो राजन् शब्दसम्बन्धिनो ज्ञस्य तु विज, वा in the pais achi also pn is substituted for jn (ज्ञ) but the jn (ज्ञ) of the word Rājan is optionally changed to चित्र। शौरसेनी, मागधी पैशाचीषु न्यण्यो रपि ज्ञो भवति । nn is also substituted for nya and nya in the sauraseni mágadhi aud pais'áchi dialects.
