________________ Illuminator of Jaina Tenets (Lustre VI 34. kāyotsargādyāsanakaraṇam kāyakleśaḥ. (Aph.) Austerity means undertaking postures such as kāyotsarga and the like. (XXXIV) ३५. इन्द्रियावोनां बाह्यविषयेभ्यः प्रतिसंहरणं प्रतिसंलोनता। इन्द्रिय-योग-कषायनिग्रह-विविक्तशय्यासनभेदादसौ चतुर्धा । अकुशलव्यापारान्निवृत्तिःकुशलप्रवृत्तिश्च निग्रहः । विविक्तशय्यासनं एकान्तवासः । 35. indriyādinām bāhyavisayebhyah pratisamharanam pratisamlinatā.. indriya-yoga-kaṣāyanirgraha-viviktaśayyāsana-bhedādasau caturdhā, akušalavyāpārān nivsttiḥ kuśalapravsttiś ca nigrahaḥ. viviktasayyāsanam ekāntavāsaḥ. (Aph.) Seclusion means withdrawal of the sense-organs and the like from the external objects. (XXXV) . (Gloss) The 'seclusion' is fourfold, viz. seclusion in respect of the control of the senses, activities and passions, and retirement to a secluded place. 'Control' means avoidance of vicious activities and performance of the virtuous ones. 'Secluded place' means lonely living. ३६. प्रायश्चित्त-विनय-वैयावृत्त्य-स्वाध्याय-ध्यान-व्युत्सर्गाश्चाभ्यन्तरम् । एते षट् मोक्षसाधने अन्तरंगत्वादाभ्यन्तरं तपः । 36. prāyaścitta-vinaya-vaiyāvsttya-svādhyāya-dhyāna-vyutsargāś cābhyan taram. ete sat mokşasādhane antarangatvād ābhyantaraṁ tapaḥ. (Aph.) Atonement, reverence, service, scriptural study, concentration and abandonment constitute the internal (penance). (XXXVI) (Gloss) These six are internal penances inasmuch as they are the inner and essential means of the attainment of spiritual emancipation. (They are the tapas proper.) ३७. अतिचारविशुद्धये प्रयत्नः प्रायश्चित्तम्। आलोचन-प्रतिक्रमण-तदुभय-विवेक'-व्युत्सर्ग-तपः-छेद-मूल-अनवस्थाप्यपाराञ्चित' भेदाद् दशप्रकारम् । Jain Education International For Personal & Private Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
