Now these are the eighteen forms of action in and through which a jiva commits Vice-papa by setting up action-currents of injury and non-injury (Ghatin and Agli&tin) which acting on the soul retard the unfoldment of its infinite psychical possibilities of vision (darshan), knowledge (jnana) and the like on the one hand, and on other, determine unfavourably the character and configuration of its manifesting media, its duration of life, its localisation in a sphere and other physical conditions as consequences of its Own viscious deeds of the past. These psychical and physical consequences which the jiva has to suffer under by dint of its own viscious are eighty two in number as in the following.
