The reader is already aware that the Jains acknowledge the Twenty-four Tirthankars, who flourished during this era in Bharat Khanda (India). Of the various events connected with the lives and careers of these Tirthankars, the Jains attach a great religious importance specially to five things which they designate by the phrase Kulyának Bhumi, and they are :
(i) the last place previous to his being conceived in the womb (chyawan)
(ii) the place of his birth (Janma)
(iii) the place where he first renounced the sansdr and initiated into a religious life (diksha)
(iv) the place where he first became a kevalin or achieved omniscience (Keval Inyan)
