Kurus and Pandavas Aourished during his time. 23. Parshwanatha belonged to the Ikshaku race and was the son of King Ashwa Sen by Bama Devi. He was born in 877 B.C. and his birth place was Benares where he was initiated and attained nirvån on mount Samet Sikhar. He was of blue complexion and his cognizance was a serpent (au). Parshwanatha attained nirban in his hundredth year, some 250 years before the nirvan of Mahavira i e. about 770 B.C. 24. Mahavira or Vardhmana also known as Natputta, the last Tirthankar, belonged to the Ikshaku race and was the son of King Siddharatha by Queen Trisala. His place of birth was Kshatriya-kund-gram where he was initiated and reached nirvan in the town of Pawapuri. He was of yellow complexion and had a lion ( for ) as his cognizance. The date of his nirvan is 527 B. C.
