________________ १५४ 6. 7. mentioned in the Mahābhārata. Jain version does not mention that Dhrstadyumna introduced the kings to Draupadī. The introduction work was accordingly done by priest, 8 maid servant or door-keeper." After fulfilling the condition, Draupadi garlanded Arjuna and the garlanding was divinely made to all the Pāndavas. According to the Nāyādhammakahão12 and Amama Svāmicaritam of Muniratnasūri, 13 garlanding was made separately to all five brothers. The Uttarapurāņa mentions that the garlanding was made to only Arjuna and not others. 14 On the other hand, the Jñātādharmakathānga follows the Mahābhārata version. 15 The Uttarapurāņa and the Pārdavacarita? 7 refer to five sons of Draupadi called as Pāñcāla while the Jñātādharmakatha18 and Kalpasūtra Kalpalatalo mention Pāņdusena as the only son. The temptation for kingdom and jealousy were the main causes behind the Dyūtakrīdā (gambling). But the Bșhatkathākośazo and Bālabhārata mention an insult done to Duryodhana in the assembly of Yudhisthira as the main cause. To avenge the insult, Duryodhana made the conspiracy of gambling and did the Cīraharana and Keśākarşaņa of Draupadi. Jaina tradition mentions mainly the Rāmagiri, Dandakavana, Kāliñjaravana as the Vanavāsa area22 while the Mahābhārata refers to Kāmyakavana, Dvaitavana, Gandhamādana Parvata etc. where Kiramīra Rākşasabadha, Bakāsurabadha, Hidimbābadha, Draupadi- harana, Krtyā Rākṣasi-preșana, Durvāsa Āgamana etc. took place. Jaina version indicates one hundred and not one hundred five brothers of Kicaka who were burnt in funeral pile by Bhima.23 The war was held between Lord Krşņa and Jarāsandha and not between Kauravas and Pandavas. Kauravas and Pāndavas were in fact associated with Śrīkrsna and Jarāsandha respectively. Krşņa and his associates defeted Jarāsandha and Kauravas and then Krsna presented the Hastināpur kingdom to Pāndavas.24 Afterwards, Duśśāsana, Duryodhana and Krsna initiated into Jinadikṣā and attained Nirvāṇa according to Harivarsa Purāna.25 Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
