________________ १८८ ongoing commitment to the progressive development of Jainism. The topic for the 1999-2000 Essay Cornpetition was-- "Relevance of Jainism in the 21st Century". There were a total of 32 participants, '8' were in the age group of Under 18 years while '24' in the Over 18 years group. In all, 16 male and an equal number of females participated, strangely 4 each male and female participants were in the below 18 age group and 12 each male and female participants sent their entries in the over 18 years age group. As advertised earlier, essays recived wefe duly condified and sent to the judges for marking-- Prof. Sagarmal Jain, Shajapur (M.P.), Prof. Sudarshan Lal Jain, Varanasi (U.P.) and Prof. Dharma Chand Jain, Jodhpur (Rajasthan) -- each one, an authority of Jainism. On receiving back the marked essays, a merit list was prepared and accordingly, the result declared. The following presons scured the first, second and third position in their respective groups. Group 'A' -- Under 18 Years 1. Kumari Nutan S. Bafna Shirpur, Dhulia (Mah.) Ist 2. Kumari Deepti Jain Piraka Seekar (Rajasthan) IInd 3. Shri Nilesh Kr. Sonagara Sawa, Chittodgadh (Raj.) Mird Group 'B' -- Over 18 Years 1. Kumari Archana Shrivastava Varanasi (U.P.) Ist 2. Shri Jethmal Chaurdia Kavardha (M.P.) Ilnd 3. Smt. Usha Nahar Ajmer (Raj.) IIIrd The prize distribution ceremony will be held at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi, on the occassion of forth coming All India Seminar on 17-18 September 2000. In that ceremony the winners will be given value of their prizes in cash alongwith a Certificate showing their position in the competition.
