________________ अथ धर्माधिकारः ॥ On Religious Virtues This path of religious virtues (which consists of) supreme forgiveness, modesty, straight-for-wardness, purity, self-control, renunciation, truthfulness, austerity, chastity and non-acquisition should be resorted to by (a monk ). Compassion is the root (cause) of religion. An impatient man never possesses compassion. Thus, one who is devoted to forgiveness accomplishes highest virtue. All virtues are dependent on humility, and humility (in turn) depends on modesty. (Thus) he who is full of modesty, becomes an abode of all virtues. 91 The crooked man never becomes pure and the impure individual never follows the rightous path. No liberation is possible without (following) rightous path. (There is) no other highest happiness than liberation. । Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
