From: Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai, On behalf of: Shri Jain Shwetamber Murtipujak Sangh of India, Bombay 14 th March, 1968. Sub: Shri Antriksha Parasnath Idol & Temple at Sirpur Demand for protection of rights - We, the representatives of the Shwetambari Jain Community in India, have to invite your honour's attention to the following: At Sirpur (Akola District), there is a Jain Temple of Shri Antarikshji Parasnath. The manegment of both the Idol, temple and its property is in the hands of Shwetambaries. The main Idol of this temple is worshipped by both the Shwetambari and Digambari sects of the Jain Community. The differnce between the two being that the Shwetambari Idols are with Waist tie (Kandora) and Waist Band (Langoti), are decorated with Chakshu (eyes) tika and jewellery, the Digambari idols are in a state of complete nudity. Jain Education International In regard to Worship only, the Shwetambaries and Digambaries had come to an understanding in A D 1905 by which a scheme was formulated, whereby the worship of the idol only was to be performed by both sects in turns, according to a regular time table.
