ACTS OF AGGRESSIONS DONE BY THE DIGAMBARIES
FROM 1908 TILL DATE.
1. In 1908, they chiseled the idol of Shri Antariksha Parshwanath. This can be seen from the Inspection Note, dated 24th June 1913, made by Addl. District Judge, Akola in para 5 thereof. Similarly, this can be found from another Inspection Note, dated 27-5-1918, made by Addl. Distt. Judge, Akola, vide para 2 of the Inspection Note.
2. In 1909, some Shwetambari Sadhus, and Shwetambari pilgrims undertook pilgrimage from Bombay to Sirpur proper. They walked the entire distance from Bombay to Sirpur within 45 days. When such Sangh wants to undertake pilgrimage, they carry with them the Idol for worship, in the Journey, they worship it in the Journey, and they worship those Idols, along with others in the temple, which is the practice followed by the Shwetambaries. When this Sangh arrived at Sirpur, on or about 21-2-1909, the Digambaries got annoyed and kicked the iron box containing the Idols, carried by the Sangh with them. Thereupon, there took place a riot. Police put up case against the Digambaries, Cril. C. No. 32 of 1909, King Emperor.... Versus.... Maniksa and others U/S 147 I. P. C. Five Digambaries were convicted, and sentenced to pay a fine of Rs. 20/- each, in default, undergo R. 1. for one week, vide judgment dated 31-5-1909, delivered by S. D. M. Washim. (R. Himilton)
Case against servants of the Shwetambaries, and some Sadhus. All Sadhus were acquitted, while three servants were convicted, and sentenced to pay fine of Rs. 100/- in default, one week R. I. while delivering the judgement the court observed.
“The Shwetambaries did receive grave and sudden provocation in the mishandling intentional, or accidental. of their Deity."
