________________ Jain Sources The Tarka Period (5th Cent. A.D. to 17th cent A.D.) The Tarka period is prolific in dialectical works. I have drawn upon the most prominent and authoritative texts which throw light on the problem of Parināma and the subject-matter related to it. I mention below, in chronological order, these works with the names of their authors. 1. Sanmati-Tarka by Siddhasena Divakara. Later part of the 4th cent. A.D. or the beginning of the 5th cent. A.D.18 Śvetāmbara. 2. Sarvartha-Siddhi by Pūjyapāda. About 5th cent. A.D. (latter half).19 Digambara. 3. Apta-mimāṁsā by Samantabhadra. About 6th cent. A.D.20 Digambara. 4.
