________________ 6 turbance. stress, tensions, worries etc. It is a state of mind which is above and beyond life crisis. It maintains permanent joy for all time to come and for all situations. This state of mind is called equanimity. All Indian philosophies and religions have only one pursuits or aim & objective. is as under : (1) Why suffering, misery, unhappiness, intranquility and mental disturbance come into individual mankind's life? (2) Is there any partial or complete remedial measures exists? If so, what are these solutions, theories, process or aradhana ? (3) What is the realistic meaning of welfare or well being or state of Moksha. All the three Indian religiom namely Jainism, Vedic & Bhddhism have same concepts of well being or Moksha. According to all three philosophy, state of well being is a state of perfect tranquility and permanent inner joy. Shanti and Anand is a state of Moksha or state of permanent bliss. All the three religions have found that cause of misery and suffering is due to psychological hunger of mankind for external and social pleasure or satisfaction. The needs (Eiachha and Manokamana), when remain (Atrupt) i.e. unsatisfied create misery. In this "pleasure seeking situation" satisfaction depends entirely upon external object's behavior. The behavior of external objects are uncertain and unpredictable and therefore it creates misery, dissatisfaction and mental disturbance. All three, Jain, Vedic and Buddhist philosophy have resolved that there can be a solution to these problems. Detachment & undisturbed state of mind is possible. This state of mind where disturbance does not take place is called tranquility. The methods which maintain & store tranquility is termed as Equanimity. Tranquility is the end & Equanimity is the means.
