राजराजश्वरीतन्त्र
Rājarājeśvaritantra
594, No. 358
1892-95. Size.- 8} in. by 4} in. Extent. - 8 leaves ; 11 lines to a page ; 34 letters to a line. Description.-- Country paper ; Devanagari Characters; two hand
writings; that on foll. 1-7 is good, that on fol. 84 is bad. Somebody has tried to disfigure last 8 lines on fol. 7; another person has tried to reconstruct; the result is, that the whole mass is quite illegible. fol. 8a has got only first six lines in fact, the remaining has been wiped of with water leaving a darkish paint over the leaf. Similar is the fate of 86.
The Ms. can be divided into two parts. (1) foll. 1-7 and ( 2 ) fol. 8. The second part has different paper, different handwriting and is obviously a portion of a different work. The colophon there is-- (fol. 8“, lines 5-6) इति दिव्यश्रीराजराजेस्वरितंत्रे शिवश्रीसंवादे ध्यानमंगलस्तोत्र अष्टS TEI:1 So, it seems to form part of the 38th chapter of the Rajaraješvaritantra from which the title of the ms. is taken. Again the numbering of verses on this page is 221, 222, 223 and 224. The first part is the Rajarāješvari. dhyana. There is nothing to show that it forms part of this Tantra. The first part ends on fol. 76. The versenumber in the third line there is 115; but in the illegible mass, which follows on that page, an attempt has been made to number the last verse as 220, so that an apparent connection may be established between this page and the following. The first part starts with the traditional list of gurus, who should be remembered at the beginning of ritual. This list is put in the mouth of Hayagriva. Then Devi asks Sankara about the Rajarāješvaridhyāna. Sankara after his usual expresion of unwillingness and a mild rebuke to Devi for her feminine curiosity, describes the said
dhyana. Age.-- Appears to be old, Author.-- Anonymous.
