another viewpoint, the second line of this stanza states that if detachment, etc. are practiced with the purpose of attaining selfrealization, they can be instrumental in achieving the knowledge of Self. Thus this stanza shows the importance of detachment and renouncement as the means for attaining the true knowledge of Self.
