Ätmasiddhi
There are thus many problems in treating God as a Creator or prompter.
The explanation of this stanza (Vachanämrut#718) points out that if God or other agencies tied Karma to living beings, there would be no scope for justifying the existence of the soul. Its existence was accepted on the basis of the properties of inspiration, etc. If that property is attributed to God, what are the properties by which the soul can be identified? Therefore Karma is not inspired by God. That function has to be attributed to the soul itself.
ચેતન જો નિજ ભાનમાં, કર્તા આપ સ્વભાવ; વર્તે નહિ નિજ ભાનમાં, કર્તા કર્મ-પ્રભાવ.
HOZII
Chetan Jo Nij Bhänmän, Kartä Äp Swabhäv; Varte Nahi Nij Bhänmän, Karta Karma-Prabhäv.
If the soul remains conscious of its true self, it acts in tune with its nature;
if it does not remain conscious, it would become Kartä of Karma by
virtue of its involvement.
