________________ Appendix II Letter Of Six Fundamentals APPENDIX - II LETTER OF SIX FUNDAMENTALS (Chha Padno Patra) Obeisance with intense devotion to the true Guru, the conferor of the unique shelter. The enlightened entities (persons), who have realized the true nature of Self, have laid down the following six Fundamentals as the supreme abode of right perception. 272 First Fundamental: - "There is existence of the soul." Just as there are physical objects like pot, cloth, etc. so is there the soul. As the properties of pot, cloth, etc. provide the evidence of their existence, so the obvious property of consciousness to manifest itself as well as to know others, is the evidence of existence of the soul. Second Fundamental: - "The soul is eternal(everlasting)". Pot, cloth, etc. last only for a certain time; but the soul stays forever. Pot, cloth, etc. are composed of some materials, but the soul is a substance on its own, because no composition can be visualized for producing the soul. Consciousness cannot arise out of any composition, so it is not a product. Being non-composible, it is imperishable; because what cannot be produced by any composition, cannot merge into anything else. Third Fundamental: - "The soul is Kartä (doer or actuator)". All objects are associated with some activity. All of them are seen with some or other change in their states. The soul also is imbibed with activity. Being imbibed with activity, it is the Kartä of that activity. The omniscient Lords have stated three types of activities.
