________________ 187 Atmasiddhi well being of the body as the only objective. Under the influence of deluding Karma, one tries to look for happiness where it does not lie. He does not realize that different worldly situations arise as consequence of his earlier Karma, and none of them is the real source of happiness. He therefore indulges in the sense of attachment for situations that he thinks are the sources of happiness, and in the sense of resentment for those he considers otherwise. Thereby he acquires new Karma and continues to wander in the cycle of birth and death. It is therefore said here that deluding Karma is the most hurtful, and one needs to make all possible efforts to overcome it. The way to overcome the same is laid down in the next stanza. Deluding Karma is of two kinds, pertaining to perception and practice; they can be invariably destroyed by enlightenment and detachment. - 103 - "Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
