Chapter 3: Characteristics of Truth Seekers
the same all throughout.
In this connection, Shrimad observed (Vachanamrut # 54), "There are no different paths for liberation. Whoever experienced supreme bliss from liberation gained it through the same way. There is no difference of opinion about the path. That path is easy; it is the path of bliss, it is steady and prevails forever. No one has gained liberation without understanding the secret of that path."
Regarding the significance of rituals, etc. he said in the same letter (#54): "The omniscient Lords have laid down thousands of rituals and precepts to point out the path. Those rituals and precepts are fruitful if they are adopted with a view to proceed on that path; they are futile if they are resorted to while forsaking that path."
The absolute and practical viewpoints were explained earlier. This stanza lays down the importance of both of them. The absolute viewpoint in the first line) focuses on the ultimate objective, while the practical viewpoint (in the second line) lays emphasis on the means for achieving that objective. Shrimad's observations in the first paragraph above are based on the absolute point of view, while those in the second paragraph are made from the practical point of view.
