Explanation & Discussion:
This stanza states the criterion to know about the reliable spiritual books. If the aspirant has come across a true Guru, the latter might have suggested the right books. For instance, reverend Laghuräjswämi has said repeatedly to contemplate over the Letter of Six Fundamentals (Appendix-II), Sadguru Bhakti Rahasya, Yam Niyam and Kshamäpanä. The spiritual aspirant should therefore regularly ponder over their contents. Similarly, if he happens to come in contact with another true Guru, the aspirant should follow his advice and undertake the study of the spiritual books recommended by him. He should go through such literature with his heart and repeatedly ponder over the same with the clear objective of achieving self-realization. It is very important that he first renounce his preconceived and ill-conceived notions and then study the recommended scriptures.
It is very rare to come across a true Guru and get his guidance. Even for those who are lucky to get access to such a Guru, it is not possible to remain in continuous contact with him. Such aspirants therefore need to secure the advice of the Guru about the right literature. It will enable them to pursue spiritual development in the absence of the Guru.
