Ätmasiddhi Jain Education International Considering the direct access to a true Guru as supremely beneficial, one would act on his precepts with the united energy of body, speech, and mind. 35 Explanation & Discussion: The importance of a true Guru cannot be overemphasized. Looking at the characteristics of a true Guru, it is obviously very rare to have access to such Gurus. As such, if one gets that access, he should consider it supremely beneficial. In spiritual pursuit, there is no other means which is as helpful as a living Guru. The benefits that can be derived from such a Guru are incomparable to those derived from any other source. The worldly soul has been wandering mainly on account of inaccessibility of a true Guru. If one had the contact of such a Guru, his wandering would have come to an end. The problems that an aspirant cannot solve by reading scriptures, etc. can be easily resolved by such a Guru.
