Srāvakbhūmi (a) neither for pleasure, nor for indulgence, per
sonal charm or comliness (na dravārthain na
mandanārthain na vibhūşaņārtham), (b) for maintenance (yāpanāyai), (c) for satisfying hunger (jighatsopurataye), (d) for favour of chasteness (brahmacaryānugra.
hāya), (e) for the extinction of past, older vedanās, (f) for the betterment of life, for gaining strength,
happiness and pleasure (yātrā me bhavisyati, varņām, sukham cānavadyatā ca sparsavihārata
cetyāharati). After this a summary treatment (samāsārtha) of the topic under discussion occurs.
