The Second Yogasthāna
XVII. The three yogācāras :

(i) the beginner (adikarmika),
(ii) kṛtaparicaya (having a preliminary knowledge of the ingredients of yoga) and
(iii) atikrāntamanaskāra (a yogin entered into the result of bhavana after the mental orientation of yoga-bhāvanā.
XVIII. Yogabhāvanā: This contains detailed discussion on the (A) samjña bhāvanā and the (B) bodhipaksya bhāvanā.
A. The former consists of
(i) The prahāņa saṁjñā, (ii) the viraga samjnā and
(iii) the nirodha samjña through which the yogacara contemplates upon samatha and vipaśyanā.
B. The latter elucidates the bhāvanā of thirty seven dharmas conducive to the attainment of bodhi (and thereby of nirvana). The practice of the thirtyseven bodhipakṣika dharmas enable the yogin develop the idea of anityatva regarding the body etc., a thorough knowledge of the five skandhas, the citta, vedanā, samyak-prahāṇa, (pradhana), etc., the seven-fold bodhyangas, the śila, samadhi and prajñā skandhas, the eightfold Aryan Path, the samatha and the vipasyana lead to the purification of the mind and acquisition of the dhyana-stage which ultimately leads to the attainment of bodhi and Buddhahood (buddhatva).
XIX. Bhāvanā phalam: This twofold bhāvanā results into the attainment of the four śrāmaṇya-phalas, i. e. those of srotapatti-phala, sakṛdāgāmi,
