________________ NOVEMBER 2012 PRABUDHHA JIVAN SECOND TIRTHANKAR BHAGWAN AJITNATH I DON'T WANT TO BECOME KING' Before many many years, i.e. before ages today's City of Ayodhya was kown as 'Vinita'. Jitashatru of Ikshavaku destiny was the king of Vinita. the queen's name was Vijayadevi. Once Vijayadevi during pregnancy saw 14 odd flowers on him etc. dreams. The king called the astrolloger and asked about the meaning of these dreams. The astrolloger was very clever. He thought about the dreams and said, "Oh, King! you are very lucky. The queen will give you a son who will be very famous not only in this world but will be very unusual personality and will make your name very famous in the world for ever. The king was very happy. He being a king. thought that his son would become a great king nd conquer the world. The time flew away very fast and the queen delivered a son. The parents named him Ajitkumar. As the time passed Ajitkumar was growing and was found to be the little different from normal child. He used to go in the garden and sometimes would sit in one place and sit in meditation for hours together. Once upon a time a king and the queen asked messengers to call for their son. They searched for him and to their surprise Ajitkumar was seating in the garden and meditating. He was so engrossed that he did not notice the people before him. The messengers also waited till Ajitkumar was in his normal stage and out of meditation. Mother Vijayadevi saw 14 dreams during pregnancy. Vijayadevi Delivered a son on Maha Sudi Ashtami (Eighth day of the first half of the month Maha) The son was named "Ajitkumar' At the call of his parents Ajitkumar went to see the parents. Lovingly the parents made him sit near them. When Ajitkumar was entering he was astonished to see the way he was received by the people showering Ajitkumar had a younger brothernamed Sumitravijay. Ajitkumar refused to be a king and rule when he 35 Jitashatru the father told Ajitkumar, "Look, son, now we have become old and I would like to retire. I would like you to look after the kingdom and also expand it as far as you can.' BHAGWAN AJITNATH : Ajitkumar sat silently for some time and replied, "I am not interested in becoming a king. Instead of conquering the world I would like to conquer the body and mind." He was very firm about his ideas. Nobody could convince him to become a king. After few years he went to the jungle renouncing all worldly pleasures. He started practicing penances and meditations. The impact of his penances were so great that even wild animals would come and sit silently before Ajitnathji. After twelve years of penance he attained omnicience, the Divine Knowledge. Gods arranged Samosaran (Religious Assembly) for him and Ajitnath addressed discources from there to the people. Price Ajitkumar had become a secomd Tirthankara known as Ajitnath. Moral: Meditation increasesthe power of mind. Kulin Vora: 9819667754 was offered the kingship though he was the prince. ⚫ The younger brother became the king. ⚫ Ajitkumar was of a different nature since childhood. he used to sit in meditation many a time. Ajitkumar became a saint and left this world on Sammet Shikhar' hill on the fifth day of first half of the month of Chaitra.
