________________ [2 ] compositions. This shows that Somesvara was a versatile literary figure who composed stray Subhāşitas as well as big works like Nāțaka and Mahakāvya. This edition of the Karnāmrtaprapā has been prepared from its only available manuscript preserved in the Government Collection of MSS. (no. 39 of 1871-72) deposited at the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Poona. The text was printed some years back, buć the publication was delayed on account of several reasons. I have no doubt that it will be useful in the study of medieval Sanskrit poetry in general and in a detailed study of Somes'vara's literary works in particular.
