foundation- stone of "Bhagvad Gita' which is very important and popularly known part of the Mahabharat. According to this theory of incarnation, Lord Vishnu, incarnates as and when there is "Unrighteousness' i.e. "Adharam' on the earth.
Like "Bhagavata' Purna (IX, 24, 56); in "Gita' too, there is a mention of the 'Avtar' i.e. the incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
"यदा यदा ही धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत!
अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानंसृजाम्यहम् !!"। i.e."Yada-Yada hi dharmasya galnir bhavati bharta
abhyutthanam adharmasya tadatmanam srjamyaham."
"Whenever there is a decline of righteousness and rise of unrighteousness, O Bharat (Arjuna), then I send forth (create incarnate) Myself.'
According to Hindu-Mythology, "Avatar' means descent. The Divine, comes down on the earthly plain to raise it to a higher level. God descends and man rises. The purpose of the "Avatar' is to inaugurate a new world, a new "Dharma'. By his teaching and example, He shows how a human being can raise himself to a higher grade of life. "Gita' speaks about the cause of 'Avatar' as:
"परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम्!
er sitenuaterfer Fraifa yt-n!!!''2 i.e. ""Paritranaya Sadhunam, Vinasaya cha duskritam.
Dharma samsthapanarthaya, Sambhavami yuge-yuge". "For the protection of the good, for the destruction of the wicked and for the establishment of righteousness, I come into being from age to age.'
According to Hindu-Mythology, it is the function of God as Vishnu, the protector to establish right, when wrong prevails." This incarnation theory is the basis of all the Hindu-worshippers of Lord Vishnu.
This theory of incarnation i.e. "Avatarvad' is so much popular
