बाणेण समप्पिउ धणधणउ! तं अक्खरडंबरू उप्पणउ!!''25 i.e. "Tahim avasari sarsai deervai, kari kavuv dinnmayin vimalami.
Inden samappiyayu vayaranu. Rasu bharhen vasen vitharanu. Pingalen chhand-paya-patharu. Bambhahe damdinihin alankaru Banen samappiu ghanghanau. Tam akhardambaru uppanau".
At that time "Saraswati blessed the poet asking to start his poem with that wisdom, given by her to him. Indra gave him Vyakaran (Grammer); Bharat gave him "Rasa', Vyasa taught him to enlarge the story; Pinglacharya gave him metre of the poetry; Bhamah and Dandi taught him "Alankar-shastra'. (figures of speech); Banabhatta gave him the glossary."
This shows the greatness of Swayambhu Dev, who pays his best regards to his predecessors for their debt on him, without any reservation or religious bias. Dr. H.C. Bhayani, a renowned critic and scholar says- ""Puspandanta, who along with caturmukha and Swayambhu constitutes the big trio of Apbhramsa poetry, mentions him besides caturmukha, Harsa and Bana, and speaks reverently of him as a great Acarya surrounded by thousands of friends and relatives. "26
Mahakavi Swayambhu Dev has earned highest respect as a Jain-poet by the scholars. Dr. Kailash Chandra Shastri holds him to be "Valmiki' and "Vyas' of Apbhramsa "Ramakatha' and Krishna Katha' respectively, who has his influence upon every poet in Indian-Literature after him.27 Mahakavi Swayambhu Dev is the author of Jain Krishna-Katha-epic ""Rithanemi Chariu", also called "Jain-Mahabharat'. As already explained, Jain poets accepted "Rama' and "Krishna' as "Shalaka Purush' and not as incarnation of Vishnu, like Hindus. This has made the characters of Rama and Krishna totally different
