________________ 50 न्या.प्र.वृ. प्रसिद्धो &0--वादिप्रतिवादिनोरविप्रतिपत्त्या स्थित:--The same-प्रसिब-is the P.21. word used in the Vais'. satras. Panjika points out that it is 1. 25. an intransitive participle ( प्रविष्यति सः (read स for स्म) प्रसिदः अकर्मकः कतरिका) न्या. प्र. खु. यस्मिन् पक्षाभासे ( Paijika) स्वं च तदूपं च स्वरूप-not स्वस्य रूपं, but स्वं च P.22. 1. 1. तद्रूपं च.i.e. not the स्वरूप or nature of धर्म bat धर्म itself. __].4. धर्मयाथाल्य-( Read याथात्म्य for थायात्म्य which is an obvious misprint ). याथात्म्य अवपरीत्य-Paijiki shows how it comes to mean that. न्या... निराक्रियते &c.-Two ways of explaining निराकरण, प्रतिषेधन प्रतिषेधक P. 22,1. 5. ( Paijika), न्या. प्र. वृ. एषां नवानामपि ( Vrtti P. 22. 1. 2.).-of all the nine प्रतिज्ञादोष P. 3. 11.56. enumerated above ( N. Pr. P.2, 1.14. 17 ). वचनानि प्रतिज्ञादोषाः ( Vetti P. 22. 1. 3). धर्मस्वरूपनिराकरणमुखेन--The manner in which the दोषs arise in of three kinds : (1)' धर्मस्वरूपानिराकरणमुखेन' in the case of the first five, namely, प्रत्यक्षविरुद्ध, अनुमानविरुद्ध, भागमविरुद्ध, लोकविरुद्ध and स्ववचनविरुद्ध (2)'प्रतिपादनासंभवतः' in the case of the next three, namely अप्रसिद्धविशेषण, अप्रसिद्धविशेष्य and अप्रसिद्धोभय; and (3) 'साधनवफलम्यतः' in the case of the last viz. प्रसिद्धसंबन्ध. न्या. प्र. वृ. In the case of the first five, the अनुमान in precluded by प्रत्यक्ष etc; P.22.11.7.14. in the case of the next three, it is impossible to convince पञ्जिका the opponent so long as he does not agree to the दृष्टान्त &c.; P.54 b in the case of the last it is no use embarking upon an अनुमान to prove what is already accepted by the other party (सिससाधन), For the last note vide the text of the N. Pr. साधनवैफल्यतः" and the note thereon. न्या. प्र. The author next comes to the important topic of हेत्वाभासP.3.1. 8. i.e. Fallacies of the Reason (हेतु) or the Middle Term.
