NOTES : IV 333-341 336. In अपभ्रंश the ending अ of words is optionally changed to ए before भिस; (1) गुणैः न संपत् कीर्तिः परं (जनाः ) फलानि लिखितानि भुञ्जन्ति ।
केसरी कपर्दिकामपि (बोड्डिअ) न लभते गजाः लक्षैः गृह्यन्ते ॥ " By virtues (one can get) only fame but not wealth; people get fruit which is written ( on their forehead by destiny ); a lion is not worth even a cowrie but elephants cost lacs." Here we get गुणहिं and लक्खेहिं to illustrate the rule.
. 386. In अपभ्रंश the Ablative sing. termination of words ending in अ is हे or हु... (1) वृक्षात् गृह्णाति फलानि जनः कटुपल्लवान् वर्जयति ।
तथापि महाद्रुमः सुजन इव तान् उत्सङ्गे धरति॥ “ People take fruit from a tree but neglect the bitter leaves; and yet the great tree, like a noble man, places them on its lap." Here we have वच्छहे or वच्छहु.
337. In अपभ्रंश, the Ablative plural termination of '. words ending in अ is हूं.'
(1) दूरोड्डाणेन पतितः खलः आत्मानं जनं (च) मारयति । _
यथा गिरिशृङ्गेभ्यः पतिता शिला अन्यदपि चूर्णीकरोति ॥ “À wicked man, by taking a long jump, kills him. ___self as well as others; a stone fallen from the mountain

tive plural. ... 338.. The Gen. sing. terminations of words ending in अ are सु, हो, स्सु. (1) यः गुणान् गोपयति आत्मीयान् प्रकटान् करोति परस्य ।
तस्य अहं कलियुगे दुर्लभस्य बलिं करोमि सुजनस्य ॥ " I offer my homage to the noble man, rare in this Kali-age, who conceals his own virtues and manifests those of others." We get here परस्सु, तसु, दुल्लहहो as Gen. sing. forms.
