(3) प्रेक्ष्य मुखं जिनवरस्य दीर्घनयनं सलावण्यम् । ननु गुरुमत्सरभरितं ज्वलने प्रविशति लवणम् ॥ "On seeing the face of ffarat having long eyes and possessing beauty, salt is very much jealous and enters fire." . (4) चम्पककुसुमस्य मध्ये सखि भ्रमरः प्रविष्टः । ___ शोभते इन्द्रनीलः ननु कनके उपवेशितः ॥ “My friend, a bee has entered into the flower of चम्पक and shines as if इन्द्रनील is set in gold." For निरुवमरसु पिएं पिअवि जणु see 401. 3. 445. For गयकुंभइ दारन्तु see 345. 1. (1) अभ्रांणि लग्नानि पर्वतेषु पथिकः आरटन् याति । यः एषः गिरिग्रसनमनाः स किं धन्यायाः धनानि (घृणायते?)॥ "When the clouds appear on the top of the mountain the traveller goes on crying: Will the cloud spare the life (धनानि) of the fair one, the cloud that intends swallowing the mountain?" Or are we are to read घणाइ-घृणायते- घृणां करोति? १ विलग्नं अन्त्रं शिरः स्रस्तं स्कन्धात् । तथापि कटारिकायां हस्तः बलिः क्रियते कान्तस्य ।। I pay homage to my lover who keeps his hand on his small sword even though the bowels hang on his foot and head is severed from the trunk." (3) शिरसि आरूढाः खादन्ति फलानि पुनः शाखाः मोटयन्ति । ___ तथापि महाद्रुमाः शकुनीनां अपराधितं न कुर्वन्ति ॥ "Climbing on the top they eat fruit; again they break the branches; still the great trees do no harm to birds or do not feel offended. 446. The characteristics of शौरसेनी are also noticeable in अपभ्रंश.
