Born in 1851 in a great and famous family of jewellers, he for the last 16 or 17 years devoted the greater part of his life and fortune to the service of religion and community. He did not know the English language, but in the Jain community he was the first to conceive the idea of establishing Jain Boarding Houses to afford large and special facilities to students.
