________________ Misunderstanding vis-a-vis Understanding with reference to Jainism : 133 Perhaps, all these misunderstandings have no requisite base or it may be considered that all these have been laid down due to being unfamiliar with the religion, philosophy, ethics, literature and culture etc. of Jainism. It is true that Jainism has its own culture with antiquity, religion with bases, metaphysics with idea, epistemology with logic, ethics with codes or rules, literature with objectives, language with dialects as well as enormous number of technical terms. All these have their own meanings. Here, it may be considered that all these and many more misunderstandings regarding Jainism make room due to wrong explanation of technical terms, ideas, concepts which Jainism have. Jainism, again it is true, could not become worldwide religion and philosophy because of its strict rules of religious practices, but it is certain that the doctrines of Jainism are so scientific and rational, that, if accepted in true sense, can solve all these so called misunderstandings framed against Jainism. Further, it is true that the followers of Jainadharma or faith are much less in number than those of the other faiths but whosoever are the followers of Jainadharma they are honourable citizens of India, or high ranking businessmen and men of high thinking. And they are trying utmost to sort out all these misunderstandings. Jainism is a religion propounded by a Jina. Jina is supreme status, conqueror of the worldly passions by his own sternous efforts. ccording to Jainism, Jina is not a supernatural being nor an incarnation of an all powerful God. He is a simple man with stern will power. Jainism, as a religion is nothing but a set of principles preached by such persons i.e. Jinas. As we know that Jina was previously a simple man and Jaina religion is known as a religion of Jina. Hence, Jainism like Vedic religion, is not Apauruşeya religion, a religion propounded by a non-human being or based on a sacred book of non-human origin. On the contrary, it is a religion of purely human origin and it has emanated from the mouth of a dignitary who has secured the omniscience and self-control by his own personal efforts.?
