Growing food in this way incorporates nature's intrinsic regenerative tendencies into garden and farm systems. Over generations, this gives the greatest chance of providing food quantity and quality while sustaining environmental health. By practicing natural and regenerative agriculture, this partnership begins to think about how we relate to nature and how we can act as a part of nature. Eventually, agriculture becomes transcendental, and because of this truth, regenerative agriculture has great potential to change our attitude towards nature for the better. In addition to ongoing study groups in Earth Stewardship and in Ethics, CCLP organizes Rural Life Gatherings and Pastoral Implications Conferences. Churches' Center for Land and People USA REEP: The Religious Education and Environmental Program REEP - the Religious Education and Environment Program - works with teachers and educators from all faiths in order to equip them with techniques for teaching environmental education. REEP is founded on the conviction that concern for nature is essential to religion, and that religious awareness has a vital contribution to make to the natural world. Through tailor-made teacher-training events delivered by experienced facilitators from all the main faiths, REEP enables teachers to return to their classrooms with information, materials, and classroom activities to help pupils explore the world around them. The workshops encourage students to explore the rele vance of traditional religious teachings, develop their own beliefs and values concerning the environment, and find ways to take practical action based upon their beliefs and values. REEP: The Religious Education and Environmental Program UNITED KINGDOM Creating a State-Wide Model for Nonviolent Education in Rhode Island The new Center for Nonviolence and Peace at the University of Rhode Island in the United States commits itself to initiating a movement to make education in conflict resolution and reconciliation available to all segments of the state of Rhode Island. Geo graphically compact (1000 sq. miles) with an ethnically diverse population of one million, Rhode Island can become a forerunner in building what Martin Luther King Jr. envisaged as a "beloved community." The Center for Nonviolence and Peace has begun working with school districts, educators, police, civic officials, and business, religious and civic organizations statewide, and will support other centers worldwide as part of a global network working for nonviolent social change and the spiritual elevation of humanity Center for the Nonviolence and Peace Studies USA FOSTERING CREATIVE ENGAGEMENT 51 Jain Education Interational 2010_03 For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
