________________ 1999 GIFTS OF SERVICE TO THE The Incorporation of Women's Experiences and Views on Religion and Spirituality Foundation for Pastoral Care for Women offers research and publications on women's experiences and views on religion and spirituality. The research focuses on aspects of religion that stimulate selfesteem, and sustain the promotion, protection and implementation of women's human rights at all levels of society. The foundation also collaborates with communities that want to highlight women's experiences and views on religion and spirituality. Foundation for Pastoral Care for Women NETHERLANDS GAARON SERG School of Law Founded and operated by Bishop Most Rev. Willy Romelus, this law school provides young college graduates with the opportunity to stay in their hometown to study law, instead of migrating to the Capital of Port-au-Prince. For the first three years after obtaining their degree, students serve people in need of legal help acting as advocates, free of charge. In July 1999, the first 17 students obtained their degree. Among them, nine went on to practice law and eight proceeded to judicial school. In order to help eradicate illiteracy in Haiti, which currently is at 80%, the Bishop founded 6 schools at the high school and technical levels. These school provided children with the opportunities for an education, which otherwise they may not have had. CVT, the first organization of its kind in the United States, has pioneered a comprehensive assessment and care program that is respected worldwide. In recent years, the Center has expanded its work to include research, training, and public policy initiatives designed to create new resources for torture survivors worldwide. The center's community consists of the John Jay College. The Graduate School, and the City University of New York's faculty and students, writers, artists, and other concerned professionals from many fields. All of its programs are free and open to the public. The center has formed an ever-widening scholarly and professional community. The center believes that knowledge and intellectual growth emerge from disciplined, reflective, critical, and collaborative inquiry. The Center seeks to increase and deepen public knowledge around issues of violence and human survival in the 20th century.
