Stop the War Against the Poor Campaign Composed of people of faith and conscience, Witness for Peace is called to speak out against economic wars in Central America and the Caribbean Stop the War Against the Poor Campaign issues a call in response to the violent effects of the policies and practices of the US government international financial institutions (like the World Bank and the IMF), and multinational corporations. Every month, the National Office of Witness for Peace in the U.S. puts out a Call-a-Week bulletin which includes back ground information on selected issues, talking points, and contact information. Campaign for Secure Dwellings (CSD) The CSD, in cooperation with Israeli peace groups and Palestinians, calls on people of faith to actively advocate an end to Israel's home demolition policy Fifty Palestinian families whose homes and lands are targeted for destruction are linked with sixty-three families, peace groups, and congregations in North America. This campaign is spearheaded by Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT), a program of active peacemaking supported by Mennonite and Brethren congregations and Friends meetings. The CSD project is in cooperation with the Israeli Committee Against Home Demolitions and the Hebron Land Defense Committee, CPT has had a presence in Hebron since June, 1995 at the invitation of Hebron's mayor Christian Peacemaker Teams USA
America's Shadow Struggle: Native American Rellglous Freedom America's Shadow Struggle combines video documentaries, nonfiction books, and a symposia at the 1999 Parliament of the World's Religions to shed some light on the rarely reported religious persecution of the Indigenous peoples of the United States. Featuring dialogues between the renowned Religious Studies Professor Huston Smith and eight eloquent Native American leaders, this effort seeks to foster respect for ancient religious traditions and to envision a world free of religious persecution for the next millennium. When Racism Becomes Law A two-part exhibition: one covers Anne Frank and the Holocaust, the other the Apartheid era. The programme for young people presents the lives of Anne Frank and Nelson Mandela and examines how they were influenced when racism became law. The programme began just after the '94 South African elections and has been used throughout KZN - from Newcastle to Port Shepstons. Shelter from Hate Project The Shelter from Hate Project grew from the participation of the Spirit of the Lake United Church's delegation at the World Council of Churches gathering in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1998. The project advocates for Christian churches to celebrate "Shelter From Hate Sunday" the first Sunday of every October.
