________________ 1999 GIFTS OF SERVICE TO THE WORLD NOWO Homeward Bound and Home Plate Community Ventures Homelessness is the largest public health issue in the United States. Homeward Bound of Marin serves homeless men, women, and children in six different programs in Marin County, California. We provide housing and support services that enable people to move home for good! Homeward Bound engages individuals and families in a dynamic, compassionate process of ending their homelessness by opening doors to safety, dignity, hope, and independence. HomePlate Community Ventures, a component of Homeward Bound, are social enterprises designed to provide training and employment opportunities for homeless people and to bring another source of revenue to provide homeless services. Currently, Home Plate runs a catering business, "Grateful Table Catering," which offers high quality production of fine foods and ambience for the discerning public. Homeward Bound is also branching out into a mobile kitchen venture called "Rolling Scones" and developing an organic garden for sale at Farmers' Markets.
