________________ शुद्धोपयोग अधिकार 12 - THE PURE-COGNITION The intrinsic ‘agurulaghuguņa’ is the general (sādhāraṇa) qualitymode (guņa-paryāya) of all substances. Transmigration is samsāra, the cycle of wandering. Those who undergo the cycle of wandering are the transmigrating souls. The whirling-round has five subdivisions: the cycle of matter (dravyaparivartana), the cycle of place (ksetraparivartana), the cycle of time (kālaparivartana), the cycle of being (bhavaparivartana), and the cycle of thought-activity (bhāvaparivartana).1 The substance (dravya) of matter (pudgala), from the minute atom (paramāņu) to the gross earth (prthivi), has the qualities of colour (varņa), taste (rasa), smell (gandha) and touch (sparsa). The substance of matter is of six kinds (from sūkşma-sūkşma - extremely fine to sthūla-sthūla - extremely gross). (see gāthā 21, p. 51-52, ante). The one who does not see clearly all substances with their infinite qualities (guna) and modes (paryāya) is having only the indirect (parokşa) perception. 1 - see Acārya Umāsvāmi's Tattvārthasūtra – With Explanation in English from Acārya Pujyapāda's Sarvārthasiddhi, sūtra 2-10, p. 72. . .. . .. . ....... . . 283
