To these, the most popular Jaini nvocation is addressed many times every day by pious Jaing : ART अरिहताणं । नमो सिद्धाणं । नमो आयरियाणं । नमो उवज्झायाणं । नमो लोए सव्वसाहणं । "I bow to the Arhais, I bow to the siddhas, I bow to the ācāryas, I bow to the upadhyā yas, I bow to all the sådhus in the world." The siddhas are the souls who have attained liberation from the cycle of birth and death. TETS are the souls who have attained omniscience but have not yet discarded the last vestments of human body. The remaining three are in a higher spiritual condition than other men, Acar ya is the head of the monks. Upadhyāva is a teaching saint. Sadhu is an ascetic or monk simply. This salutation to the five digoitaries is credited with the power of destroying all sin and is regarded as the most excellent mangala.
