9. 13-14णियजणणविइण्णु etc. The lines mean that अर्ककीति understanding the signs of the brows from his father prostrated before king tonefa and thus saluted him.
10. la हरिबलेहि, by हरि i. e., त्रिपृष्ठ, and by बल i. e., विजय. ससुरउ ( श्वशुरः ) the the ( would-be) father-in-law of त्रिपृष्ठ.
11. 12-13 पुणु भणिउ etc. They again said to अणंत (त्रिपृष्ठ ): Let us sce; lift up the slab of stone, and show to us whether you would be the killer, ( कयंतु, कृतान्तः ) of हयकंठ (अश्वग्रीव ) or no.
15. 14 अह सो सामण्णु भणहं ण जाइ, now he cannot be called an ordinary man ( सामण्ण, सामान्य ).

1. 2 चिरभववइरवसु, under the influence of enmity of the previous birth, when both of them were विश्वनन्दि and विशाखनन्दि. 4 तिखंडखोणिपरमेसरु, the lord of
earth with three continents, i. e., df. aura was the award before त्रिपृष्ठ.
5. 46 विज्जाहरभूयरभूमिणाहु, the lord of the विद्याधरभूमि and भूचरभूमि, i. e. the अर्धचक्रवर्ती, अश्वग्रीव.
7.3a मा रसउ काउ चप्पिवि कवाल, a crow sitting on the head of a person and crowing is considered to be an indication of approaching death.
8.2 करगय etc., why do you require a mirror to see a golden bracelet which is put on your hand? A famous लोकोक्ति. 5a भरहह लग्गिवि, from the days of king भरत, the first चक्रवर्तिन्. 11 रणु बोल्लंतहुं चंगठ, the talk of fight is pleasant. Campare युद्धस्य कथा रम्या.
9. किंकर णिहणंतहं णत्थि छाय, there is no charm or pleasure in killing the servants, aprauta was glad to fight with fg as he thought that there was no pleasure in fighting with the inferior or low people. 15 सारंग is interpreted as बलवत in T. but it appears that त्रिपृष्ठ, being a वासुदेव, should have a bow made of a horn, facus is called me in Hindu Mythology. The other emblems of विष्णु in Hindu Mythology such as पाञ्चजन्य, कौस्तुभमणि, असि, कौमोदकी गदा, गरुडध्वज and gut, are also mentioned as emblems of anyaa in Jain Mythology and hence I think that सारंगु धणु should also mean शाङ्ग धनुः.
10. 4 a-b This line mentions the weapons of बलदेव; they are: लाङ्गल, a plough, मुसल, a pestle, and गदा called चन्द्रिमा.
