[ LVIII(a) संजयन्त-(१) सिंहसेन; (२) अशनिघोष हस्ती; (३) श्रीधरदेव; (४) रश्मिवेग; (५) अर्कप्रभ; (६) वज्रायुध; (७) सर्वार्थसिद्धि अहमिन्द्र; and (८) संजयन्त, It is in this birth that he attained emancipation.
(6) मेरु-(१) मधुरा; ( २ ) रामदत्ता; ( ३ ) भास्करदेव; ( ४ ) श्रीधरा in देवलोक; (५) रत्नमाला in the अच्युतस्वर्ग; ( ६ ) वीतभय; (७) आदित्यप्रभ; and (८) मेरु who is the गणधर of विमल.
(0) मन्दर-(१) वारुणी; (२) पूर्णचन्द्र; ( ३ ) वैडूर्यदेव; (४) यशोधरा; (५ ) रुचकप्रभ in कापिष्ठस्वर्ग; (६) रत्नायुध; (७) विभीषण; (८) द्वितीय नारकी; (९) श्रीधामा; (१०) ब्रह्मस्वर्गस्थित देव; (११) जयन्तधरणेन्द्र; and ( १२ ) मन्दर who is the गणधर of विमल.
There are two other prominent persons mentioned in the narrative; they are : (1) सत्यघोष or श्रीभूति, the minister of सिंहसेन who became अगन्धनसर्प, चमरमृग, कुक्कुटसर्प, तृतीय नारक, अजगर, चतुर्थनारक, सादिभव, सप्तमनारक, सर्प, नारकी, मगशृङ्ग and विद्यदृष्ट्र; ( 2 ) भद्रमित्र the merchant who became सिंहचन्द्र, प्रीतिकर देव and चक्रायुध.
1. 56 चिज्जइ comes from चि to pluck, to collect, and then eat. The T gives med which is only a secondary sense of the root.
6. 10 देवदिवायराह, of god आदित्यप्रभ who in subsequent birth became मेरु. 9. 1la बिण्णि वि एयइं, i.e., यज्ञोपवीत as well as मुद्रिका.
14. la णावइ वारुणि, like wine. .. 15. 6a तूलिहि, on a mattress made of cotton ( तूल ).
18. 4b कम्मारउ, a labourer.
LVIII 9. laपण तह का etc. The line means: Now for the sake of अनन्त ( तहु कइ, तस्य कृते) the royalty ( राज्यश्री ) suffered pangs of love; she fainted ( but was brought round ( सञ्चयण कय ) by fanning ) by means of chowries.
11. 86 मिहिरमहाहिय, superior in lustre ( मह, महस् ) to the sun ( मिहिर ).
13. 12a अमवासाणिसियहि, on the night of अमावास्या. Both गुणभद्र and पुष्पदन्त do not mention the month which is #7. Probably we are to borrow the name of the month from 11.la.
16. 9 महुसूयणु i. e. मधुसूदन the Mss use promiscuously महसूयणु and महुसूयणु. In Hindu Mythology मधुसूदन is the name of विष्णु. Are we to take मखसूदन to be the name, which is confounded with मधुसूदन ?
21. Note the दामयमक or श्रृंखलायमक throughout the कडवक.
