2.5a णिग्गेसइ ण वाय, words will not come out. The root णिग्ग here and in 7b below corresponds to निघणे in Marathi and may be traced to निर् + गम् or गा.
3. 56 तरइ swims. The root तर to swim is preserved in Marathi in this sense. There is another root तर in Prakrit which means to be able (शक).
___ 4. 1b वणुस्साहिलासं should have been वणस्साहिलासं, the desire to have the garden, que is found in all the Mss. and hence retained. Or, are we to take वण + उस्स ( उत्सुक )+ अहिलासं, keen desire for the garden ? 126 तायाउ आराहणिज्जो, to be respected after the death of my father. You deserve the same respect as my father.
__5. 13 दुग्गु भणेवि, saying ar thinking that the stone pillar was like a fortress ( दुग्ग ). वइरिउ i e. विशाखनन्दी.

1.6a जायासीधणुतणु, They both (विजय and त्रिपृष्ठ ) grew to the height of 80 bows. 96 बिहिं पक्खहिं णं पुण्णिमवासरु, like the day of the full moon which had on one side the bright half and on the other side the dark half, corresponding to विजय बलदेव who is white and त्रिपृष्ठ वासुदेव who is dark in complexion.

Please note that बलदेवs and वासुदेवs will all be referred to by their various synonyms such as सीरि, हली, लंगलहर, सीराउह etc. for बलदेव, and दामोदर, माधव, श्रीवत्स, अनन्त, सिरिरमणीस, लच्छीवइ, ( लक्ष्मीपति ) दानवारि, दानववैरिन्, विट्ठरसव, विस्ससेण, etc. for 'वासुदेव; similarly अश्वग्रीव is mentioned under हयग्गीव, हयकंठ, तुरंगगल etc.
