The three gems
Salvation is obtained by the co-operation of Jnāna, Darshana and Chāritra (right knowledge, right faith and right conduct), hence they are called the three gems,
To know a thing rightly is Jnāoa (knowledge), right belief in substances such as the soul, Karma etc., is Darshana (faith) and to avoid sins such as Hinsă etc. as well as to possess virtues such as Ahinsă etc., is Chāritra (conduct).
