cause producing two different effects. This is in conflict with the Jaina doctrine. Note: Action (kriyā) actually leads to mode (paryāya) and the mode of a substance cannot be altogether different from the substance itself. As the Self produces his own modes, and, again, enjoys results thereof, and if he also creates the karmic matter and then enjoys the consequences thereof, then the Self will be no different from the two actions - of self and of karmic matter. To hypothesize that a single substance produces kriyā in two substances is against the doctrine of the Omniscient Lord.
दो किरियावादी मिथ्यादृष्टि हैं -
जम्हा दु अत्तभावं पोंग्गलभावं च दो वि कुव्वंति। तेण दु मिच्छादिट्ठी दो-किरियावादिणो होंति॥ (3-18-86)
क्योंकि आत्मा, आत्मा के भाव को और पुद्गल के भाव (परिणाम) को – दोनों को - करता है। ऐसा मानने के कारण दो-किरियावादी (एक द्रव्य द्वारा दो द्रव्यों के परिणाम किये जाते हैं, ऐसा मानने वाले) मिथ्यादृष्टि होते हैं।
Those who believe that the jīva or the Self is the producer of modifications in both - his own self, and in the physical matter, i.e., one single substance producing modifications in two substances, are of erroneous faith.
