among inspired writings, musk among perfumes, gold sand* among articles of commerce, the peacock among dancerst, the five-marked coltI among horses, the water of immortality among liquids, melted butter among gravies, the dutiful son Salabhadra among enjoyments, Santináth among the givers of gifts, Nemináth among chaste religious students, Nandana among forests, the Chandana among woods, friendship among virtues, and the Jain religion among religions. In fine, the Kalpa Sútra is the gem in the crown of all religious institutes. There is no god superior to the Arhat (Jain Sage), no future bliss superior to Mukti (liberation), no holy place superior to Sri Satrunjaya, and no inspired book superior to the Sri Kalpa Sútra. This Kalpa is an ever-present Kalpa Druna (tree yielding whatever is desired), since, to speak of its several parts, the Sri Víra Charitra is the seed, the Sri Párswa Charitra is the sprout, the Sri Nemi Charitra is the stem, the Sri Rishabha Charitra is the branchy top, Sthavirávali
