________________ All in Good Faith The Qur'an taught Muslims to build good relations with all people of the world (Ch 49, v 13), spread peace everywhere and whenever it is possible (Ch 2, v 208 and Ch 8, v 61), cooperate in furthering virtues and God-consciousness (Ch 5, v 2) and to secure human welfare, good relations, justice and virtue (Ch 4, v 114). The divine message has repeatedly enjoined them to be sociable and universal. They should not be locked in a ghetto of land or mentality whether built by others or by themselves. The Qur'an also teaches that such a strong commitment for a Universal reformation of human ethics on religious grounds which is basic for any other reform, has been the common responsibility of all the followers of the Divine revelation through successive Prophets: 'Among the followers of earlier revelation there are upright people, who recite God's message through the night, and prostrate themselves before Him. They believe in God and the Last Day and enjoin the doing of what is right and forbid the doing of what is wrong, and vie with one another in doing good work, and they are among the righteous' (Qur'an 3: 113-115). However, Muslims worship the One and only God. Association of any other being or object with the one God is a serious sin in Islam. Therefore, Muslims may attend any collective worship where the one and only God is being praised. The Qur'an condemns strongly any division among believers in the One God and the followers of His Divine messages (23:53). May God lead all true believers in Him to fulfil one's heavy responsibility through mutual understanding and cooperation. AMEN! - 48 -
